Final Blog Post & Reflection

This blog is my best blog because this post best goes with how good I did on meeting the requirements. It was an analysis post and  it shows how well that I did on meeting the requirements. One way I met the requirements was me referencing some evidence from the book that supproted my analysis which was, "Mist rose from the book, and the attic grew suddenly chill. Faster and faster the vapor swirled until, like a hurricane, it roared through the room" (Benz 36). And the text does actually tell you what was happening in that scene and it was supported with what i thought. The other and last way that i met the requirements for the analysis was i did infer on what I thought might happen next and what I thought was throughly explained. Plus, I refered some evidence to back up on what i was infering.

I chose to do choice one and one goal that i have for myself for reading and for the trimester to come is to probably actively read more in my books And I also should highlight unknown words/ similes/metaphors and highlight important textual information that could do something to the plot. A goal that i have for writing next trimester is to at least incorporate more than 5 sentences in a blog. Things that i want to improve on reading is to use more evidence from the story and incorporate that into my blog posts. I feel like i didn't cite enough evidence from my book or i didn't find any unknown words or such. Things that I want to improve on writing is to lengthen on what I was talking about in my blog posts. I also felt like that I just put down what I thought and I was done so I think I should include more things I didn't use like more evidence from the story.

Characters

In Revenge of the Shadow King, another character that is in the book is another boy named Ray who looked like he came out of no where. With Ray, he was previously a school bully and he always seems to be the one who has all of the powers. He's actually gets power from the shadow which comes from that magic book, giving him characteristics such as blue skin. I recently found out that Ray isn't with Max, he is actually part of the shadow, and the shadow is a group of creatures I'm guessing that are trying to take revenge on earth. And not much is revealed by the shadows, so really only Ray describes what the shadows are like, such as he's after the book and some sort of jewel. Ray really describes what the antagonists (the shadow) are like and he is also notorious to the other characters since he's descended from shadow.

Tone and Mood

In The Revenge of the Shadow King, I think one mood would be unfortunate. I think this because  many of the creatures that are stored in the book don't benefit Max or they don't benefit the environment. And only a couple of the creatures, such as that spriggan, actually pay back Max for releasing him, while others pay him back in destruction. One quote that supports the mood is," Then, as he was just about to give up, something soft brushed up against him. It was his backpack, floating in the torrent. With what little strength remained, Max pulled it close and curled his arm around the bag. But it didn't matter. That was the last thing he remembered"(Benz 56). Max, shortly after fell out through a waterfall, which was very unfortunate. Luckily, the spriggan was there to save Max by putting him into a tree, using his powers and that might be how the spriggan pays Max back.

I think the tone would be mysterious and suspicious because when Max is trying to find the book back that Harley had hid, Max can't tell whether noises are nature or mysterious creatures. A quote to support this would be," Max stepped one way, then another. The shadow mimicked him. Max jumped. It jumped as well. Then to his horror, Max noticed that every place the shadow had fallen, the grass lay withered and brown"(Benz 60). This shows the horrors that is probably going through Max's mind. He doesn't know if it's a friendly creature either. A particular moment where Max swayed the belief of others was after when Harley thought too many fantasies from the book was coming to life that he hid the book. Max had to try and convince Harley to calm down and give back the book so that they could fix this and understand what's happening. Max's suspicious tone impacted his persuasiveness by reasoning with Harley and thinking logically, asking many questions, before he would had done something stupid, like destroyed or hid the book. Max was unsuccessful however, Harley did hide the book somewhere he doesn't know so he'll need to search for it.

Analysis

The new book that I am reading is called The Revenge of the Shadow King by Derek Benz & J.S. Lewis, which is part one of a three book trilogy. Max Sumner, and his three friends Harley, Ernie, and Natalia play a game called the round table that involves a mysterious book releasing mystical creatures that Max found in his attic. One quote is," Mist rose from the book, and the attic grew suddenly chill. Faster and faster the vapor swirled until, like a hurricane, it roared through the room" (Benz 36). This quote shows just what the book can do, to release this creature called a spriggan causing all of this wind to invade his room and release him. Based off what the book can do, I can infer that the book OR the creatures can change peoples surroundings such as sudden changes to life like animals, change in geography, etc. And also, maybe whatever creature is released, the creature will inherit its characteristics such as a spriggan is scrawny and lives in a tree.

Redo on The Scorch Trials: Theme and Summary

This is a redo for a Theme and Summary of The Scorch Trials, the book follows upon the first book which was The Maze Runner. The books about a character named Thomas who has to overcome a series of obstacles, trying to make new friends while trying to stay alive. After the events from the first book, the girl that first came out of the elevator, I can't recall of what happened to her, but some of Thomas's more closer friends such as Teresa, is the only thing that he has left. For a thematic statement, mine would be not all relationships last forever. This would be my thematic statement because throughout the course, almost every relationship with someone that Thomas gets doesn't end up well like with the coordinators that set up the wasteland? And the gladers, a group formed in the first book, they weren't very close, but it doesn't get any better. At first, he makes many temporary allies, one of them which was a friend of Teresa, she wasn't very trustworthy. But even his closest friends betrayed him. I just wonder what would happen in the next sequel.

Predictions on The Death Cure

The next book in the Maze Runner series is The Death Cure guessing taking right after the events of The Scorch Trials or maybe a couple of months or days later. Im still on the last chapter of The Scorch Trials but I can predict what might happen next to the character, but not the setting because I don't completly know where Thomas is going next. I am predicting that Teresa is gone since what was revealed near the end of The Scorch Trials. The things that i now wonder is since the earth isn't a barren wasteland anymore, who will their new allies and enemies be?

The Scorch Trials: Reading Skills

In The Scorch Trials, I am getting close to the end of my book and I was wondering some things as it got to the end. One question was Teresa and someone else named Aris were trying to kill Thomas all along as it got to the end but why? Was Teresa with the wicked group all along? And how long was wicked planning to try and knock out Thomas? Possibly when, why, or how did Teresa turn on Thomas? Even though I'm on the last chapter, i might predict that in the next book, maybe Teresa isn't going to be in it at all. I honestly don't know. A text-to-text connection is actually the first book of the series, where the old members of the gladers had turned against Thomas for their own good. A text-to-world connection could possibly be country rivalries like the United States and Afghanistan because it causes conflict between two people/ groups of people. And a text-to-self connection might be your sports team against the other team because both of you are competing against a common goal. Even though this connection also is about the fun of playing the sport, they're always is some competition.

The Scorch Trials #2

The book I'm reading is The Scorch Trials. So far whats happening is one of the Glader members just got killed by one or many of the Cranks, the creatures that are a part of the wasteland. I think Thomas and Teresa weren't with the Gladers at that moment, but based on what the other Glader members told them, he got taken away by the Cranks, and I don't know if he got infected the flare plague, if he got away, it was never explained. So far that's the only person that has died that was present in the beginning of the book. Thomas and Teresa are ok, they haven't lost anybody that they're close to. Well at least not yet we'll have to wait and see.

The Scorch Trials: Recommendations

The book I'm reading is called The Scorch Trials and I would recommend this book to everyone of all ages. It takes place right after The Maze Runner, which is the first book in the series. Right now, I am at a part where Thomas, the main character, is already ganged up with another elite group called the Gladers, and another unmentioned character named Teresa, and they've already started the next challenge. It is said that it is to be more challenging than their first ones, made up of barren wastelands, and with a new opponent called Cranks, part of the wastelands and were infected with the flare disease. So far, many bad things have happened to both Thomas, the Gladers, and especially the people that they've encountered along the way. Many people have made it through, many people haven't made it that far. But so people know, Thomas and Teresa are still alive, and you'll have to find out if the Gladers are making it this far. If you like these science fictions and dystopian future types of books, then I would definitely recommend this book, as this book makes you wonder what will happen next.

The Scorch Trials: Predictions

In The Scorch Trials, I infer that either none or not many of the gladers will make it through the challenge. I think this because even though the gladers made it through the maze, I'm not completely sure if they can make it this time. They seemed a lot stronger and greater as in numbers in the maze. And since they have less people, their odds seem less likely. Even though this might go towards Thomas, since he is just a single man, he seemed to do better on his own, so far in the challenges, they've lost 1 person that was part of the gladers, and fortunately, it wasn't the flare that killed that person so hopefully the disease isn't coming to any of them yet. I will have to see how this shapes out through the story, to see if this is correct or not.

The Scorch Trials

The independent novel that I am reading is called The Scorch Trials by James Dashner. This book takes place right after the events of the Maze Runner, where the main character Thomas, comes right back from the maze in the first book. I haven't read too much of the book yet, but afterwards, the gladers, another group coming from the maze, blamed Thomas for an accident that had happened in the room, with the rescuers dead. Now they have to do another task, which is to pass the scorch trials. Apparently, it is going to be more challenging than the maze. There is also a disease called the flare that lurks within the field, so both the gladers and Thomas have to avoid the threats of the wasteland. There also seems to be more information about the characters and their experiences, like the gladers are struggling to survive when they are faced with the challenges of the scorch trials, while Thomas is able to survive just as he had done in the maze. So far this book has been ok, but I'm liking it just as much as I liked the first book.

The central idea of Robopocalypse in a piece of the text is when the news is addressing the problems and the significant changes in the robots such as behavior. The central idea develops over the course of the text by slowly the situation of the robots beginning to change, such as robots becoming either hostile towards humans or showing usual behavior towards humans, they’re not killing humans, rather becoming untrustworthy and disloyal. It eventually develops to where the robots plan to annihilate the human race into extinction, and this time by using any means. By doing so, there is news about “recent attacks” by hostile robots, planning to end us all. So now it has escalated to a point to where we have to take action and terminate them.
This article is about comparison to other books and how it does.
