The Scorch Trials
The independent novel that I am reading is called The Scorch Trials by James Dashner. This book takes place right after the events of the Maze Runner, where the main character Thomas, comes right back from the maze in the first book. I haven't read too much of the book yet, but afterwards, the gladers, another group coming from the maze, blamed Thomas for an accident that had happened in the room, with the rescuers dead. Now they have to do another task, which is to pass the scorch trials. Apparently, it is going to be more challenging than the maze. There is also a disease called the flare that lurks within the field, so both the gladers and Thomas have to avoid the threats of the wasteland. There also seems to be more information about the characters and their experiences, like the gladers are struggling to survive when they are faced with the challenges of the scorch trials, while Thomas is able to survive just as he had done in the maze. So far this book has been ok, but I'm liking it just as much as I liked the first book.

I think this book has a hero's journey plot. Did the last book have the same one?
ReplyDeleteWow is all I can say, this book sounds awesome! it sounds action packed? am i right? If I weren't so busy trying to read the other books i said i would read first i would definitely be one book i would read in a heart beat.
ReplyDeleteDid you read Maze Runner? This reminds me of the Tri-wizard Tournament in Harry Potter. So, the competition in the first book was a maze, and in this book, it's the scorch trials (hence the titles)? What are gladers?
